The Polycom IP phone has three different types of reset. It is MANDATORY to perform these 3 resets in sequence as shown below.
- Reset Local Config
- Reset Device settings
- Format File system
Reset Local Config - resets the following:
Configuration Files
Config Overrides
The Local Config comprises settings manually entered via the phone's web interface. These settings override provisioned (downloaded) settings. If you find that your provisioned phone is not implementing all of the settings expected then this reset should clear that up.
Reset Device Settings - resets the following:
All IP Parameters
FTP User Name and PW
Custom SSL Certificates
User and Admin Passwords
Format File System - resets the following:
BootROM
Application
*Keep note that the following actions will erase your settings. This cannot be undone.
Instructions to Reset the Phone in Sequence:
Reset Local Config
Step 1: Press the 'Menu' key.
Step 2: Select 'Settings'.
Step 3: Select 'Advanced'.
Step 4: Enter in your admin password to the phone (456)*. Hit the Enter soft key.
Step 5: Select 'Admin Settings'.
Step 6: Select 'Reset to Default'.
Step 7: Select 'Reset Local Config'.
Reset Device Settings
Step 1: Press the 'Menu' hard key.
Step 2: Select 'Settings'.
Step 3: Select 'Advanced'.
Step 4: Enter in your admin password to the phone (456)*. Hit the Enter soft key.
Step 5: Select 'Admin Settings'.
Step 6: Select 'Reset to Default'.
Step 7: Select 'Reset Device Settings'.
Format File System
Step 1: Press the 'Menu' hard key.
Step 2: Select 'Settings'.
Step 3: Select 'Advanced'.
Step 4: Enter in your admin password to the phone (456)*. Hit the Enter soft key.
Step 5: Select 'Admin Settings'.
Step 6: Select 'Reset to Default'.
Step 7: Select 'Format File System'.
*The default Polycom passcode is 456 however if your phones have been setup with a previous service provider, that code may be different.
