Polycom Troubleshooting Steps

Error: URL Call disabled

Symptom: The phone is stuck in a rebooting pattern and continually fails to boot properly.

  • As the phone is starting to reboot, select “SETUP” from the menu options.
  • You will be prompted for a password, enter “456”
  • DHCP CLIENT should be
  • Scroll down to “DHCP Menu …” and hit “SELECT”
  • We want to make sure that the Boot Server = Custom+Opt.66, and BootSrv Type = IP Address.
  • To do this select “Edit” and use the left and right arrows to modify. Once done select save.
  • After the Boot Server options match up and everything is saved we want to select exit to return to the previous menu.
  • You should see DHCP Menu at the top of the screen once again.
  • Scroll down to “Server Menu …” and hit “Select”
  • We want to make sure that the Server Type = FTP, and Server Address = 69.25.179.111.
  • To do this select “Edit” and use the left and right arrows to modify. Once done select save.
  • After the Server options match up with the working phone and everything is saved we want to select exit to return to the previous menu.
  • Scroll down to “Ethernet Menu …” and hit “Select”
  • Make sure that VLAN ID is blank.
  • Now hit “Exit” two or three times until you get the prompt to either
    1. Exit w/o Save
    2. Save & Reboot
    3. Resume Setup
  • At this point we want to “Save & Reboot”

The phone should come up and pull an IP address.
